Professional Development

The professional development committee aims to facilitate events that will serve to extenuate your academic learning with practical skills that you can apply to your professional endeavors. We want you to leave Wagner with skills you can market to employers and get that dream job you deserve.  Examples include a two day conference on how to start your own social enterprise, various events that bring in professionals in the field, and other interesting workshops and career-related events. If Bridge is the organization that joints the private sectors with the social sector, the professional development is the committee that will give you the tools to compete in this increasingly competitive work environment.

Andrew Regenstreich, MPA 2011, is the chair of the Professional Development Committee.  Email him at regenstreich.a@gmail.com.

Andrew is currently enrolled in NYU Wagner’s PNP program with an international focus. Andrew has worked in a wide variety of fields including finance, local government, the United States Senate, and the U.S. Embassy in London. He earned his BS from the Northeastern University where he studied political science and psychology. Heavily influenced by research trips to Niger and Geneva, Andrew’s first job after graduation was managing a microfinance program in a refugee camp in Zambia. This served to confirm his belief that the best way to elevate poverty was through public private partnerships. After leaving Zambia he traveled to a few other Africa countries and became increasingly passionate about pursuing a career that would allow him to make a difference in peoples lives. Travel is a constant in his life, and to date he has been to almost thirty countries. Most recently Andrew worked as a consultant with the Mayors Service in Schools Initiative. In this position he consults with NYC Public Schools on how to implement public service projects. After graduation Andrew hopes to work in a position that combines the tremendous resources of the public sector with the ingenuity of the private sector to improve leaving conditions either domestically or internationally.
